After an amazing birthday weekend, I'm really struggling to get back on track. For example, breakfast this morning was a slice each of victoria sponge birthday cake and chocolate birthday cake. You can see my problem.
I don't want to rubbish all my hard work so far, so I'm trying really hard to get back on track today, despite what I'm calling 'cake-gate'.
Having plenty of uni work on is sort of keeping me occupied, so shouldn't be any danger of noshing out of boredom.
Weigh in is tomorrow evening and then I'm off out for Halloween so shall be consuming to the excess then, so I really need to have at least half a good day before weigh in. Wahhhhh
Wish me luck anyway. x

I'm back!
And I actually couldn't be happier :) Don't get me wrong, I enjoyed my holiday, but getting food poisoning slap bang in the middle of it didn't really have me jumping for joy. So now I'm happy to be (finally!) home and back on plan.
Going down to my Dad's this weekend which is usually a bit of a challenge on the food front. Eating out, going to the pub, takeaways, hearty home cooking.. sometimes it can all be a bit too much to resist! However, this time I'm hoping to stay a bit more in control (whilst having a few treats, obviously - after all, it is my birthday on Sunday!) and keeping my fingers crossed for a loss come Wednesday.
I've also decided to change group from a Tuesday evening one to a Wednesday evening one. Last week I weighed at a different meeting because I couldn't make my own, and was surprised at how much friendlier and more supportive the group seemed. At the minute, I don't really get a lot from my group, most weeks I hardly even stay because I don't really know anyone and I find it all very 'cliquey'. So having decided to change to this group, I'm hoping Image Therapy will be a bit more enjoyable for me! I shall report back on how I get on.

Ooops
Have to say sorry for my absence, but the last 3 days have been horrific diet wise. Feeling fat, frumpy, and extremely unmotivated. Have WI tonight at 7 and it'll be a bloody miracle if I've managed a loss.
Saying that, I did have 3 100% days last week - Wednesday, Thursday and Friday.
Anyway, I plan to resume blogging tomorrow, I've just got so much on today with holiday packing (eeek!) and uni.

WOOHOOOO
Yes, I have titled this post woohooo! And that's because I lost 2.5lbs at weigh in tonight and I'm over the bloody moon! Even though I've been over my syns most days, I've been accountable for everything and have really made an effort with the gym.
Need to lose 3lbs next week to get into the 11's, which I think is achievable given the fact I have 6 gym sessions planned! So this week I plan to stick to a maximum of 10 syns a day (obviously where possible) and try to drink looooads of water, and lemon water too if I end up getting some lemons in!
Resisting food at work will be my biggest challenge, but I only have 2 shifts until my next weigh in so if I can get through those then I'll be laughing. Here's to another good week.

Diet Amnesia
I literally get this all the time. Most people are probably guilty of it; going somewhere (for me this is most often work or my boyfriend's or dad's) and completely forgetting the fact they're trying to lose weight, and so accepting sweets, biscuits, and any other crap that you didn't intend to eat that day.
Like I said, for me it most commonly occurs when I'm at work, in particular in the kitchen. Last night saw me picking at leftover chips and mayonnaise from staff tea, whilst deep cleaning the room service area, and popping a Fox's glacier fruit in my mouth every time I entered the kitchen thereafter. It's weird because it happens without even thinking. It's not like I have a debate with myself in my head "You're supposed to be on a diet", "You don't have enough syns for that!" it literally just happens. It's only after I seem to 'remember' that I'm actually part of a slimming group who meet weekly to get weighed and confess their syns.
I'm not sure how to get over this, without constantly telling myself I'm on a diet - which I tend not to, because I don't really feel like I am most the time anyway.
Maybe as I get nearer to target my attitude will change, we'll have to see. In the mean time, I'm hoping extra gym sessions and all the walking to and from uni will prevent me from gaining from my occasional 'diet amnesia'.

Excited
Portugal is just 9 days away now and my excitement really is growing! After having a bit of a blowout yesterday, I'm trying to be extremely good today and tomorrow to ensure I get a decent loss at weigh in tomorrow night.
Ideally I'd like to be in the next stone bracket before we go away, which means I need to lose between 5 and 5.5lbs - but obviously any more would be great!
Things like holidays are great motivation to stick to the plan and make sure you stick to the plan 100%. I think it's easy to become complacent once you've been doing the plan a while (this is officially my 5th week) but the trick is to treat it as your first week, every week. And that means following the plan to the tee; counting your syns religiously, weighing out your healthy extras and making sure you get your 3rd superfree (if you're following the extra easy plan, that is).
This is what I've been trying to do this week, with the exception of yesterday, but hey ho, sometimes we all need a day off.
So I'm hoping as I continue to count down the days to my holiday, I can also count down a few more pounds too!

Food Diary: Extra Easy Day (& day off!)
Breakfast
Didn't have any as I was running late for the gym!
Lunch
Took my Mum to the restaurant I work in for the most amazing Sunday lunch, goodness knows how many syns but here goes...
1 teensy tiny bread roll (would guess at about 2 syns, it was so diddy!) with butter
Starter: Chicken and ham hock terrine with salad and spiced tomato chutney
Main course: Roast Lincolnshire beef - so yummy, just fell apart! - with yorkshire pudding, 2 duck fat roast potatoes, baby carrots and green beans
Pre dessert: Deconstructed eton mess.. There was meringue, strawberry mousse, champagne and strawberry jelly and strawberry crisps
Dessert: Baileys creme brulee with handmade vanilla shortbread, honeycomb ice cream and homemade honeycomb
Had a diet coke and some water, so no extra syns there! Think I made the best possible choices from the menu regarding the starter and main course, obviously it would've been better to not have dessert but getting 50% the bill I just couldn't resist!
Dinner
Not sure I'll need any to be honest, but we will see!
Total syns: Not sure, but burnt 360 calories at the gym this morning so not too worried :)

Fate?
So tonight I went out with my flatmate, my boyfriend and a couple of other mates. Well, I say went out, we barely even got out before we had to come home!
Yep, that was down to my drunken state of a boyfriend who drank nearly a whole bottle of Southern Comfort before coming out. He could barely even stand up in the first bar we went in, and with the realisation he was not sobering up anytime soon, I had to get us a taxi.
The shit night didn't end there though, cuz when we got in the bathroom radiator decided to basically fall off the wall and start pissing water out everywhere. Several tea towels and bowls full of dirty radiator water later, and I'd managed to get the maintenance people out, who were needless to say, less than impressed.
But anyway, this got me thinking. After only managing to lose a measly half a pound this week (through my own fault, I know) I vowed that this week would be a 100% week - that I'd count every syn that passed my lips. So although I was excited about going out - Where's Wally? theme.. who wouldn't be?! - I was also feeling a bit apprehensive that I'd go a bit crazy, drink way too much and stumble home clutching a 12" pizza.
However, this has obviously not happened due to the afore mentioned reason! Don't get me wrong, I'm a bit pissed off the night had to come to an end before it even started, and I had to leave my friends partying without me, but also sort of glad as now I know I can still have my 100% week! Weird eh? How diets make your brain turn to mush and think like this.

Chuffed
Just got back from weigh in and have lost another half a pound this week! Which, to be fair, is pretty miraculous after the past few days!
Going to do some red days this week to try and get a big loss next week in preparation for PORTUGAL!! Woohooo I'm so excited! Booking our flights tonight. Need to dig out my summer clothes again as I've just stashed them all away for winter.

Chocolate
Is most definitely my weakness.
I had an hour to kill today at Uni so what did I do? I went to the Uni shop and bought 2 chocolate bars. A Twix and a Milky Way to be exact - upwards of 30 syns probably. Without even thinking. I don't know why I thought buying 2 chocolate bars would help to pass the time, in fact, it took me all of about 5 minutes to eat them, before I spent the following 55 minutes feeling guilty about it.
Silly girl.
Anyway, weigh in is looming, and as much as I would like a good loss, I know I don't deserve it this week. The past few days have seen me be a right piggy. We shall see.

Motivation
It's amazing how it comes and goes. It's been pretty non-existent for me over the past couple of days, but before that I was practically overdosing on the stuff. From Thursday to Saturday (I know that's only 3 days, it felt like much longer though!) I was positively angelic; getting loads of superfree, resisting naughty treats, and dragging my ass out of bed on a Saturday to hit the gym, yep, it was all going brilliantly.
Then Sunday happened. I was put on a breakfast shift at work, and the urge to scoff the lovely leftovers became too much. I was pretty reserved though and drew the line at 2 lincolnshire sausages and an apple and cinnamon muffin (syns yet to be calculated!) We had a massive roast dinner later on around 5 (all Slimming World friendly) which was great, but the cinema trip after it again saw my motivation make a run for the door as I indulged in popcorn, maltesers and haribo.
Yesterday was much of the same, a good day on plan during the day, then finishing work early at 9pm (this NEVER happens!) saw me order a sneaky chicken chow mein from the Chinese takeaway next door. Oh, and devour couple of KitKats afterwards.
Anyway, lesson learned, I've woken up feeling much more motivated, with a short term goal insight - I'M GOING TO PORTUGAL IN 2 WEEKS!!! Yep, booked the hotel last night and sorting the flights tonight. I couldn't be more excited. My boyfriend and I haven't been abroad for 2 years, favouring camping holidays over glamourous jet-setting, so this holiday will be particularly welcomed!
I have 3 weigh ins until then, including tonight, so I really need to get my ass into gear. I'm going to try some red and green days, as I've really been struggling with getting my 1/3 superfree in at every meal. I'm aiming to have been on plan 100% for 14 days when we leave.. I don't think that's too difficult, even for me! So here goes, wish me luck!

Change
Sometimes admitting something needs to change is often harder than the process of actually changing whatever that is. I think this applies to losing weight. Maybe putting your hands up and saying something along the lines of "Hey, I've let myself go" or "I've become a proper greedy pig"is the most difficult part. No one wants to freely admit to feeling like an insecure, self-concious fat blob-mess, do they? No. But ultimately this is going to be the hardest bit. So the sooner you do it, the sooner you can sculpt your ass (and your eating habits) into something Ms. Lopez would be happy to flaunt.
